Previous additions and planning department constraints required this modest second story addition to be carefully grafted on a Bungalow cottage. The addition is stepped back from the front, rear and sides of the first floor below, and the roofline is arranged to further reduce the profile of the second floor. The new master bedroom suite is a self-contained retreat that opens to a roof deck with views of Mount Tamalpais. Alterations were designed to minimize disruption to first floor rooms that had already been remodeled.
