Portfolio: Residential: Oakland CA 02: Upper Level Entry Hall   Upper level entry hall with vaulted ceiling terminates in semicircular stair to lower level. A key element of the concept for the upper level was to serve as a backdrop for the clients’ extensive collection of modern and ethnic art. Interior detailing is therefore austere and intentionally spare on wood trim. This approach takes advantage of the curvilinear qualities of the plaster walls and provides light, unbroken planes for the display of art objects while maintaining the integrity of the Arts and Crafts style.
