For this store sited on the lower level of one of the world's busiest shopping malls, the client needed a design that would overcome the “bargain basement” image often associated with the store’s location. The storefront design had to allow for a high volume of customer traffic, establish store identity and allow for maximum visibility to the sales floor. ROBA’s design solution involves a freestanding portal consisting of a pair of helical corrugated galvanized columns supporting a patinated copper lintel and flanked by frameless display windows. In order to minimize the impact of the basement location, light materials were selected for the finishes.
