NCARB registered Architect No. 46748 Founding Architect Patrick O’Brien has 32 years of experience and has either been a sole proprietor or a general partner of a California architecture practice for 22 years. Mr. O’Brien’s expertise is in period style housing, commercial design and adaptive reuse of existing buildings. He also has considerable experience at large scale development projects. Commenting on ROBA’s philosophy of additions and restorations, Mr. O’Brien says, “a house that gets our attention will feel and look comfortable to itself — you will have a hard time telling what’s old from what’s new, guaranteed.” More… Patrick O’Brien Stephen M. Rynerson, principal A native Californian, Stephen Rynerson received a Bachelor of Architecture in 1973 from the University of California at Berkeley. From 1975 through 1978, Mr. Rynerson worked for San Francisco Victoriana, a firm specializing in restoration and historically correct period architecture. As a sole proprietor of Period Design from 1978 to 1989, he expanded the scope of his practice to include custom commercial work and tenant improvements. In partnership with Patrick O’Brien since 1989, Mr. Rynerson has brought his experience to bear on numerous commissions from Guam to New York. Stephen Rynerson is a charter member of Artistic License, a guild of Bay Area restoration artisans, and remains true to his roots in historic design.
